There are three categories of membership:
Members, who are persons or corporations having a fabrication facility in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland appropriate to the work they undertake. Member companies undertake the design, fabrication and erection of steelwork for all forms of construction in building and civil engineering. All steelwork contractor companies applying for Membership are required to undergo a technical assessment (visit to their Works) - an assessment visit is required every three years. The cost of Membership is related to a company's leviable turnover.
Associate members, who are not steelwork contractors, are those principal companies involved in the direct supply to all or some Members of components, materials or products, and which have a purchase, design or supply facility within the United Kingdom or Repubic of Ireland.
Corporate members, who are not steelwork contractors, but for whom the previous category is not appropriate. Corporate Members are clients, professional offices, educational establishments etc which support the development of national specifications, quality, fabrication and erection techniques, overall industry efficiency and good practice.
For Associate and Corporate members the cost of membership is a flat rate fee.
