Membership

There are three categories of membership:

Steelwork Contractor Members, who are companies having a fabrication facility in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland appropriate to the work they undertake. Member companies undertake the design, fabrication and erection of steelwork for all forms of construction in building and civil engineering. All steelwork contractor companies applying for Membership are required to undergo a technical assessment (visit to their Works) – an assessment visit is required every three years. The cost of Membership is related to a company’s leviable turnover.

The cost for Steelwork Contractor membership is related to a company’s turnover.  It is based on the turnover figure for the fabrication and erection of structural steelwork. Certain exclusions apply, eg cladding.

Industry Members, who are not steelwork contractors, are those principal companies involved in the direct supply to all or some Members of components, materials or products, and which have a purchase, design or supply facility within the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland.

Corporate Members, who are not steelwork contractors, but for whom the previous category of Industry Membership is not appropriate. Corporate Members are clients, main contractors, professional offices etc which support the development of national specifications, quality, fabrication and erection techniques, overall industry efficiency and good practice.

The cost for both Industry and Corporate membership is a flat rate fee.
