Stephen Blackman

Director of Certification


Stephen is responsible, on behalf of the SCCS Certification Board and the SCCS Stakeholders, for the daily running of Scheme. Stephen was appointed as the SCCS Scheme Manager in 2013 and has over 30 years experience in the Oil, Gas, Petrochemical, Construction, Manufacturing, Nuclear, Pharmaceutical, Renewable & Onshore/Offshore Marine Industries focused on Quality, Environmental, Welding and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems

John Slack

Deputy Scheme Manager


John works alongside the Scheme Director in providing the necessary support to enable the smooth and efficient running of the company. His primary role is to ensure SCCS clients are receiving the best value in certification through audit report verification. John has an industry background in Automotive Component Manufacturing, Subsea Oil and Gas, Marine Offshore Operations, Rail and Mobile Plant Manufacture where he gained a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience that he shares with SCCS in supporting the company’s strategy.

John Topham

Deputy Scheme Manager


John is responsible for general management of the certification scheme including subcontract auditor recruitment and ongoing assessment, management of the SCCS database and client liaison regarding certification matters. In addition, John carries out SCCS client audits and is involved in UKAS assessments. John joined SCCS in 2015 and has over 25 years of Quality Management and Business Development experience, primarily within the Steelwork and Construction sectors.

Lynn Johnson

Scheme Assistant


Lynn is responsible for administration, implementation and assisting in the control of the day-to-day certification activities which includes reviewing client applications and providing quotations. Lynn joined SCCS in 2019 and has worked both in the private and public sector and has over 30 years experience working within an office environment.
